While Californian wines today have a reputation for producing some of the world’s finest wines, it was Clos du Val and a few others that were the founding fathers of that notion.

Their wines were entered into the famous 1976 Paris tasting, where the best of France were up against the best of California. They were tasted blind by a French panel, all with impeccable resumes to back up their tasting credentials. To their shock, they ended up preferring the Californian wines and history was made.

The wines from Napa have ever since been associated with premium quality wines at the highest level and this one is no different. It’s a rich and bold wine, which deserves your attention. We however recommend decanting it 30-45 min before drinking, to allow a full display of the flavours it has to offer.
